SSE is about to start works on the traffic lights next to the Corner Site in Kyle to provide a solution where they would not have to switch the traffic lights each time they move turbines through Kyle. This is in response to local people telling SSE that temporary traffic lights slow down traffic through Kyle.
A message from SSE:
I would like to advise that works to upgrade the traffic light system in the centre of Kyle of Lochalsh will commence on Tuesday 8th May.
The work on the traffic light upgrade began in early Autumn last year with the submission of the new design. Since then we have been working hard to liaise with the various agencies to obtain agreement on the design and to obtain approval to progress the works. We have had a contractor engaged for some time and this afternoon the green light has been given to start the upgrade. The works will involve the repositioning of the existing signals, an upgrade of the existing equipment and improvement works to the crossing points to bring them up to current standards.
If anyone has any questions on the associated works please email me at email@example.com.
