Volunteers may be carrying out a variety of work over the year. During the summer months we often undertake a beach clean.

VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNTIES

Kyle and Lochalsh Community Trust have a wide range of volunteering opportunities for all levels of ability.  It’s rewarding work and can vary from simple things like helping at events, assisting with our Community Fridge, to learning new skills like land management and biological recording.

Our Conservation volunteers meet most Thursday’s at 10am at the Toll Office on the Plock.  Led by our Ranger Heather Beaton sessions can range from bridge building, path making, beach cleaning, planting as well as surveying habitats and monitoring.  All ages and abilities are welcome and tools and equipment is provided.  Would you like to give them a helping hand?

Our Community Fridge is run by volunteers, open from 9-11am with food collection from local businesses starting from about 8.30am.  As we develop our new Reuse shop we will be looking to recruit more volunteers who could help with the shop or the Fridge.

Our Forest School and Branching Out training is volunteer led and we offer training for these roles.  We are also pleased to be able to offer to paid roles in connection with out MANGO toddler sessions.  If you would like more information about any of these please do get in touch.

Our Community Grower is looking for helpers to develop our community garden.  The Community Garden is in the early stages of development.  Volunteering here will be on Tuesdays.  There is lots to do from ground preparation, raised bed building, planting, propagation and biodiverse pest management.  There will also be opportunities to attend workshops, or perhaps you would like to host a workshop of your own?  Please do get in touch if you would like to be added to the gardening mailing list to keep abreast of what is going on.

Our Lochalsh Loves Local Coordinator is working on offering our electric mini-bus for community use so we will be looking to recruit some volunteer drivers in the near future.

So if you think you can help, have a skill to offer your community, or just want a day out in the fresh air in good company contact Karen at admin@lochalsh.uk or call 01599 534505 for more information on how you can take part.
